Our Labor Day:(

Twice a year the Clegg side of the family gets together. On Labor Day and at Christmas time. I seriously look forward to these 2 events all year. This year was going to be especially fun cause we were going to Cowabunga Bay first. Kassi has been asking to go to that place all summer! Finally I was able to tell her that we were going.

Well, this last Friday I noticed a couple bumps on Kassi's hands. I thought it was a little weird, but Kassi has really sensitive skin, so I just figured she had touched something her skin didn't agree with. On Saturday she woke up, and the sores had become more like welts. After more investigating, I saw that she also had these sores on her feet, knees, and tongue. Kassi was acting completely normal. We asked her if these bumps hurt or itched at all. She said no. I didn't know what to do. It was my cousin's daughter's b-day party that day, and Kassi was really excited about it.

Brad and I decided to take her to the doctor to find out for sure what was going on. Come to find out she has Hand Foot Mouth disease. Something that is very contagious and is around for 5-7 days. Not only was Kassi missing that b-day party, she was also going to miss all the festivities for today, and she was supposed to start preschool tomorrow. Of all the times to get sick!

Luckily it seems to be a pretty mild case. She is healing quickly, and I think will be able to go to school on Thursday! Lets just hope Brad and I don't get sick.....

A Mother's Love

Last night my mom and me went to the John Schmidt concert at Thanksgiving Point. The whole scenery was so beautiful and the music was amazing! We just sat on the grass on a blanket and relaxed. It was so nice! We didn't have the best seats, so my mom and I were taking turns switching places so we could see John play the piano. (He's a very entertaining piano player.) The concert was almost over and he was doing some really neat stuff that we both wanted to see. We were sitting in front of a big speaker, so we had to lean around it to see what was going on. As I was leaning, my mom told me to put my head on her lap so I would be more comfortable. As I laid there, she started playing with my hair. A rush of memories came back to me. It has been a very long time since I have put my head on her lap and had her play with my hair.

For a moment, I wasn't even listening to the music. It had been so long since I was either too embarrassed to put my head on my mom's lap, or wasn't taking care of Kassi, that I had forgotten how it felt to just be in a moment with no worries, and letting my mom take care of me. I felt like I was 10 all over again.

Then another thought occurred to me. I started thinking about how Kassi will put her head on my lap or my shoulder and how I will play with her hair, and the the love that radiates out of me for her. Kassi is my whole world and I would do anything for her. It hit me that my mom feels the same way about me. Obviously I know my mom loves me, but until you have a child of your own, I don't think you fully understand how strong that love is. And even though I am an adult with a child of my own, my mom still feels that way. That unbreakable love that I know she would do anything in the world for me.

I think when we are adults and have our children we tend to forget the way our parents feel about us. Our focus is taking care of our children and not wanting our parents to take care of us. My parents have said several times, that even though we are adults we will always be their children.

This is all such obvious stuff to think about, but for some reason this child like experience I had with my mom has opened my eyes and reminded me of a few things. Or made me think about them differently. I can get so annoyed when I get advise from my parents because I feel like I don't need it. But I know no matter what age Kassi is, I will never want to see her suffer in anyway, so I will probably be doing the same thing. Trying to help her to make the right decision. And since she is so much like me, she will probably tell me to mind my own business.

You live and you learn. It's that cycle of life. And when my parents are older, and aren't able to take care of themselves, I'll be there to take care of them, and tell them what to do! LOL!

I'm just glad I got this reminder that even though our parents show us love differently from when we were little, it doesn't mean that love has faded at all. If anything, it has grown. Now there is more of you to love. Your spouse, your children. The love just keeps getting stronger.

(Man, two cheesy posts in a row! What is wrong with me?!?!)

Goodbye West Jordan....Hello Lehi!

*Disclaimer* This is a very corny and mushy entry. Read at you own risk!

We did it! We finally moved. It seems like this process took forever, but we are in our new home, and I love it! I am really missing my friends and family in West Jordan, though.

Anytime we talked about moving, I would just tell people that I didn't want to think about it. So I didn't. I took it day by day, and just put it in the back of my mind. I thought once we were all moved in and I was lying in bed at night it would hit me. But I was just too tired and fell right to sleep that night.

The next day as we were getting ready for church, I was kinda excited to go. Ya know, like the first day of school, getting to meet new people. Just do something different.

As we went into church we ran into a family that we had already met that have a little girl Kassi's age. We chatted for a minute, and then we went and sat down.I thought, ok, this is going to be good. As I looked around my heart sunk. I think I was hoping it would be similar to my old ward, but it is so not. A ton of young couples with a ton of kids. Which isn't a bad thing, but we just blended right in. No one knew whether we had just moved in or if we had been there several months. So as I am sitting there looking around, I glance at Brad and start to cry. In SACRAMENT MEETING!!!!!!!! I tried and tried to hold it in, and it wasn't like I was sobbing. It was like when your eyes get really teary and you are holding a tissue trying to catch the tears so they won't mess up your makeup, and you just can't catch them all. Anyway, it was really embarrassing.

Now if you are not from my old ward you are probably wondering what the heck I was blubbering about. First of all, my in-laws and brother and sister-in-law were in my old ward. Some of you would hate being in the same ward as your in-laws, but I have the best in the world. Secondly, my old ward was like a big family. I felt like I knew and loved everyone, and that I was wanted in the ward. I also became way good friends with some ladies in the ward. (You know who you are!) There is just this undefinable feeling of togetherness and love there. I truly have never felt this way about any other ward I have ever been in.

I guess I want to say to everyone from my old ward who is reading this, each and everyone of you has inspired me and taught me in some way. Never have I seen a group of women that have loved and cared about one another in the way you have. I truly feel like a better person because of you. I will miss seeing you every week, but just know that I am still coming to girl's nights!

I know I will get used to the area and ward here, but living in West Jordan with all these amazing people has forever changed my life! Thanks again for everything, and know I am just a phone call and 20 min drive away!

I love you all, and know I am a better person because of all of you!
