Happy Mother's Day, MOM!

I just want to publicly wish my mom a Happy Mother's Day! I have been blessed with an amazing mom who is my best friend. She has been such a great example of what a mom should be. She is always there for me, whether I am excited about something or I just need a shoulder to cry on. I love our weekly trips to Costco, and I love how close she is with Kassi! I'm so grateful for her, and I hope that I can someday be half the mom to my kids that she was to me! Love you mom!

Possible song for New Moon Soundtrack

So I was on the Twilight Lexicon website and listened to this song Justin Guarini(I know! Weird, huh?)wrote for New Moon. He is hoping it gets put on the soundtrack. I was actually quite surprised. I liked it! Not a big Justin fan, but he sounds pretty good singing this. What do you think?

P.S. Make sure you pause my other music so you can hear it!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Ok, so everyone who knows me well knows that I have a major sweet tooth, and that popcorn is my fav thing to snack on. Well, with Kassi, I don't give her sweets often, but I don't totally forbid her to have them, either. I think one reason I am kinda a junk food fanatic is because my parents were very strict about what us kids ate when we were young. There is nothing wrong with that, except for the fact that my mom would hide candy in her room.(Sorry Mom!) So, when I was old enough to realize that was the case, I would spend most of my spare time as a child, when my mom wasn't looking, in search of sweets. That is why I decided to give Kassi sweets every now and then, and not make it a big deal. It has actually worked out great. She never asks for candy unless she sees someone else eating it, and I try to never eat snacks in front of her.(I know! I'm a total hypocrite!)

Well, like I said my fav thing to snack on is popcorn. So a couple nights a week I will pop a bag to snack on after we put Kassi to bed, and Brad and I are catching up on our DVR'd shows. I try to get Brad to eat some, but I seriously, most of the time, can consume a whole bag myself. I'm really outta control!

Anyway,(sorry, I'm totally rambling here!)last month, I had just popped a bag of popcorn and was about to head downstairs, when I heard Kassi calling me from down the hall. I go in her room and ask her what's wrong. She said,"Mommy. I smell something." I was like,"Really? What do you smell?"(thinking maybe she had let a little toot or something.)And she says,"I smell popcorn." Seriously, that child has had popcorn maybe 5 times in her life! She asked,"Why you making popcorn?" I said I was going to eat it for a snack. She then said she wanted some. I said no, it was bedtime. She said,"You make some for me when I wake up?" I agreed, knowing she would, 1.Throw a fit and not go to sleep if I didn't agree, and 2. She would forget by the morning.

She wakes up, and what do you think is the first thing she asks for? Yup. The popcorn. I told her she had to eat breakfast first, and then I would pop some. What was I supposed to do? Tell her no when I already told her I would? She's almost 4. Her memory is becoming alot sharper.

So the next couple times I would make popcorn, I would do it when I thought for sure she was sleeping. Nope, doesn't work! That child has some kind of heightened sense of smell. So guess what? I have stopped popping popcorn so much. Which is probably a good thing.

So, tonight, Kassi went down finally around 9:30pm,(she was at Grandma's for awhile.) I was catching up on reading everyone's blogs, and got a sweet tooth. So at about 10:30 I grabbed a Mounds chocolate egg that was left over from Easter. I was just finishing swallowing it when I heard,"Mommy!" I went in her room and knelt by her bed and asked her why she wasn't asleep. The first thing that comes out of her mouth is,"Mommy, what are you eating?" I just busted up! I told her nothing, knowing where this was going. She laughed thinking my 'joke' was funny, and asked again. "What are you eating? Are you eating candy?" I seriously just kept laughing. What is wrong with my child? How in the world can she smell these things? I told her I was eating some chocolate. No need to hide anything from her. She'll figure it out anyway. Then she asks,"I have some when I wake up tomorrow?" My response,"Ummmmmmmm, we'll see."

I guarantee tomorrow the first thing she will do when she wakes up is ask for some candy. I know I'll give in, after breakfast, but I guess it could be worse, right?

ABC Tag

So my sister-in-law, Heather, tagged me on facebook. I'm not a huge fan of facebook, but I thought this tag was cute, so I decided to do it on my blog instead. It's the ABC's of You. Here we go.........................

B-Bed Size:Queen, desperately want a King!

C-Chore you hate:Cleaning the shower/bathtub

D-Dog's name:Cheeto the Chihuahua

G-Gold or Silver:It depends on what I'm wearing.

H-Height:5'9

I-Instruments you play:I used to play the piano. I can still play the right hand pretty good!

N-Nicknames:Scar is probably the one that people call me the most.

O-Overnight hospital stay other than birth:I had my appendix taken out when I was 5 months pregnant with Kassi. I had to stay overnight for that.

P-Pet Peeves:Well, unfortunately I have quite a few of these. Slow drivers, people talking during movies, and people who bring their babies and toddlers to movies(that aren't children movies), seeing other people be mean to other people or animals, and people that don't wash their hands often enough.(You know who you are!)

V-Vegetables you dislike:Onions, water chestnuts,(are those veggies or nuts?) lettuce on sandwiches, beets, brussel sprouts,(I don't think I've actually tasted them, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like them.)

W-Workout style: Ya, I don't workout very often. But when I do it is usually on our exercise bike. I'm starting to get into yoga, though. I even bought a yoga mat, so I guess I better use it!

X-X-rays you've had:Gosh, I've broken two of my fingers, I thought I broke my arm, once, dental x-rays. I think that's it.

Y-Yesterdays best moment:Hmmmmmm, good question. Yesterday, Brad was home with strep throat, I was working, and feeling like crap. Went to the Dr to get strep tests for Kassi and me.....ya, I'm having a hard time finding my best moment. Just give me a sec. Oh yeah! Before Kassi goes to bed I have her pick up her toys and put them away in her room. It's usually a battle, or I end up doing most of it, but last night Kassi did pretty much all of it herself, and she put away everything! She was so proud of herself. That made me very happy!

Z-Zoo Favorite:Well, ever since Kassi turned a year old, we have taken her to the Zoo. All my fav moments have been there with her,(except when she threw a tantrum cause she had to get off the train. That was definitely not a fav moment!)

Well, there you go! This actually was fun to do, so any of you who are looking for something to blog about, this is a great one!

Happy Birthday Deanne!

It was my mother-in-law's birthday a couple weeks ago, and since I just can't seem to do things on time, I thought it's better late than never!

Anyway, I just want to say a couple things about Deanne. She is the most caring, understanding, soft spoken, Christ-like person I know. She has had to go through many trials in her life, and I just can't help but admire the way she handles it all!
She is so strong, and sets an amazing example to her family and friends! I am so lucky to have the best mother-in-law, ever! We love you Deanne!

WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For Christmas my amazing in-laws gave Brad and I tickets to go see Wicked. I had heard the music and knew parts of the story, so I was really excited. Let me tell you, I had high expectations, but this far exceeded them. It was absolutely AMAZING! The two main characters, Elphaba and Glinda were amazing actors and they had amazing voices. Plus the story was so fun, the music was incredible, and did I mention the leads had amazing voices? Brad is not a big musical person, but he loved it, too! So, if you have a chance to go see this show, I would HIGHLY recommend it! It's a show I could see again and again!
P.S. I put some of the music to Wicked on my here, so if you turn up your volume, you can hear some of the AMAZING songs!
