That's what I keep telling myself anyway. I am feeling really good both physically and mentally after my surgery. Just a quick synopsis of what happened:
My doctor first did a D&C on me. So for those of you who aren't really sure what that is, they totally scraped out the inside of my uterus. They did this because of the polyp I had in there. They sent that in for a biopsy, by the way, and it was benign, thank goodness.
They then went in laproscopicly(sp?). They did an incision in my belly button and then two in my lower abdomen. What they found was..................Endometriosis. No surprise there, actually. That's is what they were assuming I had. Luckily it hadn't become a severe case, yet. So they just lasered the spots off. As for my ovarian cysts, it became a little more complicated.
Most cysts grow on the outside of the ovaries. They actually develop a head almost like a zit,(gross I know), so when the dr goes in, he can just slice it open and drain it.
Well, my cysts were a little more complicated. They are INSIDE of my ovaries. Joy. So my dr's choices were, cut open my ovaries and get the cysts out or blindly go in with a needle and try and drain it that way. Well, he chose the second. He didn't want to risk cutting open my ovaries and causing a ton of scar tissue. So he stuck the needle in one and was able to drain it. As for the second one, he couldn't drain it for some reason. He told me if I wasn't trying to get pregnant, and was done having kids, he would've just taken my ovaries out. I'm guessing that is what I am going to eventually have to do. So the dr wants to do another ultrasound soon to see what my cysts are doing.
Anyway, this is sounding kinda negative right now. I'm so not meaning it be. I actually feel really good about the surgery. Even if we didn't get the full results that we wanted. I'm glad he was able to:
1. Be able to go in there and see "officially" that I have endometriosis.
2. Take out the polyp and clean out my uterus.
3. And finally just to know what we are dealing with now is a relief to me.
So, where do we go from here? Well, we have decided to try on our own for a couple months. After that if we don't get prego, then we'll decide what we are going to do. We have high hopes that we will get preggers on our own. I have felt so positive about everything. But the closer it gets to about the time that I'm supposed to start my period, my faith starts to waiver. I'm trying so hard to stay positive, but when you've seen so many negative pregnancy tests it's hard to keep that positivity. It IS going to happen when the Lord sees fit. I just need to continue to have faith, and hope that maybe, just maybe, I could be pregnant right now and not even know it! Thanks for all your love, support, and prayers during this process. For those of you who called, sent texts, Facebooked, and brought over meals after my surgery. You are wonderful. Thank you. I love you all!
