Brad's Blog

This is totally random, but Brad decided to create a "mock" blog. Most of what he says makes no sense, but it'll make you laugh. It's www.livinlies.blogspot.com

Hopes it makes your day as much as I know that it will make mine!

Sassy Kassi

This is a conversation I just had with Kaasi.

Me: Kassi, are you done going potty?
Kassi: No answer
Me: Kassi? Are you done? Wipe your bum and wash your hands.
Kassi: No answer
Me: KASSI! Why aren't you answering me? You need to listen.
Kassi: No mom. You aren't listening to ME! That's what the problem is! YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO ME MOM! Mom?
Me: No answer
Kassi: Moooo-oom.
Me: No answer
Kassi: MOOOOOMMMMMM!
Me: Kassi, you do not talk to me that way.
Kassi: HUMPH! Fine. I just wish you would listen to me.
Me: Well you need to listen to me. I am the mom.
Kassi: Are you mad?
Me: No. I just get frustrated when you don't listen.
Kassi: Ok. I will sing you a song and it will make you happy.

Kassi then proceeds to sing and dance La Cucaraucha.
Those are the mood swings I deal with every day. The joys of having a girl.

I'm Thankful For........

Ok. So it's almost 1 in the morning and I am still up. Just thinking, but this time it is about the things I have been blessed with. I am reading a book right now called, "Kissed By An Angel." Really sweet book. (Thanks Karey!) It talks about death and angels, and has got me thinking. Thinking about how blessed I am.

Yes, we all go through hard things in our lives. Some much harder than others. Going on 3 years of being infertile sucks, bad, but nothing compared to things some of you have gone through.

I have really been trying to focus on the positive things in my life, from the very beginning since I miscarried 3 years ago. Every time I would start to get down, I would think to myself how good I have it. It has only been recently that things have gotten a bit harder for me. I'm really trying hard to stay positive, and to "relax" like every freaking person in the world has told me to do. (Sorry, it gets kinda annoying.) I had a talk with someone recently who pretty much told me that yes, what I am going through is hard, but I should be thankful for what I have. That really shocked me. Am I portraying to people that I am not thankful? Because I am. If I was only ever to have one child, I would still be thankful for my life. Many women can't have ANY! I have an amazing husband who I love more than life, a beautiful, healthy little girl who is my life, a job where I can work from home, my husband's job, a home to live in, amazing parents, siblings, and in-laws, friends that would do pretty much anything for me, and most importantly, the gospel, and my Savior. (I could go on, but this post is already getting a little too long.)

I love my life and apologize to any whose feelings I may have hurt. Please know if you ever hear me talking about my problems of infertility, that I always have the big picture in the back of my mind. Compared to many in this world, my life would be considered perfect, and in many ways it is. But I am certainly not. Very far from it. So there are times I have my own little pity parties. Times where I am so sick of praying for the same things over and over again, and feeling those prayers aren't getting answered. Wanting the same thing year after year tends to always be in the back of your mind. Here I go again. Sorry. See? It just starts coming out if I'm not careful.

Anyway after reading this book, it just reminded me of how quickly life can slip away. I never want those around me to question my love and gratitude for them. Every single person who is reading this, I know I would be able to thank you for some way you have affected my life.

I am a better person for knowing all of you! Thank you all for your friendship, support, and most of all, love.

Now before this gets any cheesier, I better get to sleep!

Can't sleep..........

I have alot on my mind. Wasn't able to fall asleep til around 1:30am last night. Woke up around 4:30am this morning. Brad is finally up getting ready for work, so I thought I would turn on my laptop and write some things down in hopes of falling back asleep for a little bit before Kassi wakes up. Bear with me. Most of this won't make any sense to you. I just need to clear my head, but I am doing it with very little sleep.

First off. Went to the Dr today,(or yesterday). Trying to figure out once again why I can't get prego. He thinks I may have PCOS. (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) Noone has ever thought to test me for it cause I don't have a lot of the symptoms, or so I thought. I was reading about it online I actually have a lot more of the symptoms than I thought. One of them being extreme fatigue. Ya, I know. Kinda ironic that I say that as I am up not being able to sleep. But this is something I have really been struggling with. I wake up every morning feeling drugged. It takes me awhile before I can even function. I have seen several doctors regarding this, and it frustrates me to no end that none of them have made the connection. It was just the same thing over and over again. Blood work. Check. Medications. Check. Yet nothing would change. Finally today, or yesterday, I get a doctor, actually not even a doctor, a NURSE PRACTITIONER, who has finally made the connection. Am I happy they think I have PCOS? Heck no. But I am happy to finally have some answers, and from these answers hopefully I can get pregnant soon.

Other random things on my mind. Haiti, earthquakes, adoption, my friends and what is going on with them, dirty house, laundry, realizing I booked a dr appt on the day I have to go to the Dental Convention, other things coming up in the next couple months where I have to find a babysitter, the women in my ward are going up to Heber Valley Girls camp in May, excited for that, but will I be pregnant? If so, will I be sick? What do I need to get at Costco today? Do I need to go to the grocery store, too? I want to find a good book to read, my bed is uncomfortable, I feel bad complaining about my bed when there are tons of people in Haiti and all around the world that don't even have a bed to sleep on. Blah, Blah, Blah. And then it starts all over again......

Well, Kassi is waking up. Today is going to be very interesting. What do ya do? We all have nights like these every now and then. Ya get up, do your best to function, and just hope to sleep better the next night.

So sad Christmas is over!

It has taken me so long to post our Christmas pics. I think subconsiously I was wanting anything Christmas to stick around. I knew that I after I did this post that it would be officially over. I love the holidays. It is my fav time of year! Everything is so fun and exciting. And Kassi was a blast this year. She really understood everything and we had so much fun with her.

Our family traditions are, on Christmas Eve we go to a movie with my side of the family. This year it was Princess and the Frog. Kassi loved it, but some parts did scare her a bit. We then head over to the Clegg side of the family. There we have a big dinner, act out the Christmas story, and exchange gifts.

Kassi was Mary this year.

We all sang Christmas songs while Brian accompanied(sp)us on his guitar.

We then went home and opened all our PJ's. And went to sleep............
The next morning Kassi woke us up around 7am. We went down and saw that Santa had been very generous. Kassi saw that she had received a dollhouse. She also got a Zhu Zhu pet. Both of which she was very excited about. Brad got a Wii, and I got an Oreck Vacuum.(That's what I asked for!:)

Kassi and all her gifts.

Me and my gifts.

We then head over to The Clegg home for brunch. So yummy!

We then went over to my parent's house for more presents and dinner.

Wish I would have taken more pics at my parent's house, but we were all pictured out. All in all it was a great Christmas. We are SO blessed!

We Thank Thee O God For A Prophet!

The week before Christmas my mom was asked to sing in a quartet for the First Presidency Christmas Luncheon. She was told she could bring someone. My dad had recently had surgery, and he wasn't able to go, so my mom asked ME! I was elated. So excited to go. But nothing compared to the feeling that I was going to get actually being there.

We got there early so they could rehearse. As I sat there listening to the beautiful songs, I thought, I am going to see the prophet in a few minutes. The thought overwhelmed me so much it almost brought me to tears. I know, sounds kinda dumb, but I love President Monson. I feel like he is a member of my family that I only ever get to see from a long distance.

Well, we had to leave the room for a bit so they could continue to rehearse when people started arriving. As we walked back into the large room, I was amazed at what I saw. Not only did I see the prophet, but all the apostles and their wives. The spirit that was in that room was so strong. Our table was right in front. Sitting on the table next to me was President Packer. Sitting on the table next to him was President Monson. The rest of the General Authorities were kinda spread throughout the room. But we were the table closest to the exit, so whenever someone walked by we were able to talk to them.

By the end of the luncheon, I had talked with so many apostles, but not with President Monson, yet. He was sitting there with a small group of people, and my mom and me decided to go shake his hand. As we waited for our turn, I started feeling a little dumb. I was thinking he was probably ready to go, and I didn't want to hold him here. As I was thinking this it became our turn. He was sitting down, and looked up at us and said, "I am surrounded by tall people." And he laughed and smiled that genuine smile, and I instantly felt loved. He stood up to talk to us, and nothing profound was said, but that experience has forever changed me.

Not wanting to get all preachy and stuff, but I have to express my love for my prophet. President Monson truly is the Lord's mouthpiece and I am grateful for his ability to lead our church. And I know he loves us. I felt that love radiating from him when I spoke to him.

Thanks for letting me share this experience with you all. It is one that I never want to forget!
